The Sun Prairie West Wolves will head out on the road to challenge the Middleton Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Sun Prairie West has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Tuesday, Sun Prairie West didn't have quite enough to beat Madison West and fell 4-3.
Sun Prairie West saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Audrey Davis, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Middleton came tearing into Saturday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Vikings a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Cardinals have won four games by more than nine runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Megan Button was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Macey Blazek was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Hailey Stroede was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Middleton's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Sun Prairie West, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.
Sun Prairie West might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Middleton when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
