After a string of five wins, the Christian Academy Saints 's's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 41-30 to Palmetto Christian Academy. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Christian Academy came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Palmetto Christian Academy is ranked 91st).
Several Saints players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Claire Owens, who scored 9 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals. Owens continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last five games she's played. Grace Owens was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with 5 steals.
Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-1. As for Palmetto Christian Academy, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Christian Academy will take on St. John's Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Palmetto Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against John Paul II at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully John Paul II focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Wednesday.
