The Smoky Mountain Mustangs can finally bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 66-64 win over Swain County. That looming 66-64 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Smoky Mountain yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Smoky Mountain to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lane Wike, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Wike scored 15 or more points. Cameron Fowler was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight assists and eight rebounds.
Smoky Mountain's victory bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Swain County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
Smoky Mountain will head out on the road to face off against Pisgah at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Pisgah has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 313 points over their last four games. As for Swain County, they will be playing at home against Owen at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Owen is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
