Vista PEAK Prep had lost five games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 7-14 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They blew past the Rangeview Raiders 25-13. The Bison's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Amara Herrera was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 4-for-6 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Jaya Gray was a standout: she went 5-for-6 with six runs, two triples, and two stolen bases. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Laila Lucio also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Vista PEAK Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 23 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
As for Rangeview, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-18-1. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games.
On Rangeview's side, Diana Esquivel made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
