The St. James Wildcats had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.2 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They breezed by Donaldsonville at home to the tune of 55-24. The result was nothing new for St. James, who have now won four contests by 22 points or more so far this season.
St. James had a senior duo take command as Brayden Williams rushed for 89 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries and Kobe Brown gained 188 total yards and three touchdowns. Brown was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 69 yards. St. James also got a significant boost from Kani King-young, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 81 yards.
Despite the loss, Donaldsonville still got an impressive performance from Blake Turner, who rushed for 123 yards and three touchdowns.
St. James' win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 23 points. As for Donaldsonville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.
St. James will head out on the road to face off against Berwick at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Berwick will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 211th, while St. James is ranked 52nd). As for Donaldsonville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Patterson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Patterson and Donaldsonville are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads.
