Softball Recap: MAST Community Charter Makes It Five in a Row at Home

MAST Community Charter proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 11) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Faith Christian Academy Lions 3-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-3 on April 2nd.

Rylie Fitzsimmons was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

Fitzsimmons wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kiley McCammitt, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

MAST Community Charter pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Faith Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. MAST Community Charter will square off against Swenson Arts & Tech at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Lion have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.4 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Faith Christian Academy, they will take on Plumstead Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Faith Christian Academy's pitchers better be ready for this one: Plumstead Christian has averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
