Petaluma has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on The Vintage Crushers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Petaluma is ranked 300th, while Vintage is ranked 295th).
Petaluma managed to keep up with Casa Grande until halftime on Saturday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Petaluma's tough 28-3 defeat to Casa Grande might stick with them for a while. Having soared to a lofty 64 points in the game before, Petaluma couldn't push the score so high this time.
Vintage fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They claimed a resounding 54-19 win over Napa on the road. Vintage pushed the score to 40-12 by the end of the third, a deficit Napa had little chance of recovering from.
Treven Cullinane had a dynamite game for Vintage, rushing for 200 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. Cullinane really tore up the turf during one magnificent 74-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeffery Page, who rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries.
Vintage's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB eight times. The heavy lifting was done by Carson Degarmo and Bailey Huss who racked up seven sacks between them.
Casa Grande's win bumped their season record to 8-1 while Petaluma's loss dropped theirs to 6-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Petaluma has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 310 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Vintage struggles in that department as they've been averaging 290.1 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Petaluma came out on top in a nail-biter against Vintage in their previous meeting back in September of 2022, sneaking past 28-26. The rematch might be a little tougher for Petaluma since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
