9-Man Region 3 (9 Man) recap Sept. 26, 2012
Towner-Granville-Upham extended the longest winning streak in 9-Man Region 3 (9 Man) this week by beating Kenmare/Bowbells/Burke Central, 55-12. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Titans.
St. John took down Four Winds/Warwick 50-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kiefer Langan threw for 52 yards and one touchdown and ran for 105 yards in the win.
North Star/Starkweather's dynamic duo of Jacob Hagler and Daniel Grande proved tough for Drake/Anamoose to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Hagler threw for 306 yards and six touchdowns and Grande had 169 yards receiving. Alex Weston helped North Star/Starkweather's passing attack out by catching four balls for 64 yards.
Kendal Green was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 169 yards on 13 carries as Towner-Granville-Upham topped the Raiders. Teammate Eli Luna added to the ground attack by rushing for 90 yards.
North Star/Starkweather's Hagler and Grande have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hagler has thrown for 1183 yards this season, while Grande, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 26 catches for 438 yards. Leonard Richotte from Four Winds/Warwick leads the league in rushing with 508 yards.
The marquee game in 9-Man Region 3 (9 Man) this week will be the clash between the Woodchucks and Surrey. St. John comes into the matchup ranked 22nd in the state, while the Mustangs ranks 16th.
Scott Thorson's team led the league in scoring this week after putting up 55 points on the Honkers. Green threw for 10 yards and caught one passes for 24 yards in the win.
