South Webster took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Clay 7-1.
Jaiden White spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Addi Claxon was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Kaltenbach, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
South Webster was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clay only posted a batting average of .185.
Meanwhile, Waverly scored the most runs they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of Southeastern by a score of 12-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Tigers have suffered since March 27, 2024.
Ava Robertson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Addi Hudnell was another key player, going 1-for-5 with three RBI and one double.
This is the second loss in a row for Waverly and nudges their season record down to 1-5. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for South Webster, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
South Webster skirted past Waverly 10-8 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will the Jeeps repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
