Basketball Recap: Auburn Falls Short Against Ranked Central

On Friday, Auburn faced Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Auburn Tigers fell 67-59 to the Central Red Devils. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the loss, Auburn still got an impressive performance from Antwane Daniels, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten boards. Those 29 points gave Daniels a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tabari Allen, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 13 points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Auburn smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matches.

Auburn's defeat dropped their record down to 19-7. As for Central, their victory was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 25-4.

Auburn is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.3 points per game this season. As for Central, they will challenge Opelika at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Central's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
