Calvary Chapel Academy was dealt a 60-14 defeat at the hands of Merritt Island Christian. Calvary Chapel Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-6.
Despite the loss, Calvary Chapel Academy saw an underclassman step up: Natalia Carroll scored ten points.
It was another big night for Kaity Shea, who scored 15 points along with eight steals and seven assists for Merritt Island Christian. Those seven assists set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Keri Shea, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Calvary Chapel Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Merritt Island Christian, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0.
Calvary Chapel Academy will head out on the road to face off against Cocoa Beach at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Cocoa Beach is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games. As for Merritt Island Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Matanzas at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Matanzas is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
