The Blue Valley Northwest Huskies will head out on the road to face off against the Blue Valley West Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
In what's become a running theme this season, Blue Valley Northwest gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They blew past Bishop Miege, posting a 66-38 win at home. Given Blue Valley Northwest's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Bishop Miege is ranked 158th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Joey Matteoni continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last four games he's played. Jake Fritz was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Blue Valley West had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They took down St. James Academy 64-48.
Blue Valley Northwest's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Blue Valley West, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
Blue Valley Northwest strolled past Blue Valley West when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a score of 63-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for Blue Valley Northwest since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
