Basketball Recap: Simi Valley Beats Moorpark for Their Third Straight Win

Simi Valley had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Everything went their way against the Moorpark Musketeers as they made off with an 82-61 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Pioneers also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Simi Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Joaquin Aleman out in front who went 7 for 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 28 points and four steals. Those 28 points gave Aleman a new career-high. Trevor Hiscocks was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine boards.

Simi Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Simi Valley's victory bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Moorpark, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Simi Valley will head out to square off against Camarillo at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Moorpark, they will face off against Royal at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Royal is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.6 points per game this season.
