The Palmer Ridge Bears lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Thursday was a bit more commanding. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 70-49 walloping at the hands of Cheyenne Mountain. Palmer Ridge was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Cheyenne Mountain apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Palmer Ridge still got an impressive performance from Logan Boyer, who scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Boyer has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Kraft, who scored 13 points.
Cheyenne Mountain's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mark Ruiz, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. It was the first time this season that Ruiz scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Will Weinstein, who scored four points along with nine rebounds.
Palmer Ridge are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points per game. As for Cheyenne Mountain, their victory ended a eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-15.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palmer Ridge will take on Mesa Ridge at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mesa Ridge will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Palmer Ridge surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cheyenne Mountain, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pueblo South at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Cheyenne Mountain will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while Pueblo South is ranked 91st).
