They walked away with a 58-47 victory over Brackenridge. Given Alamo Heights' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while Brackenridge is ranked 607th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alamo Heights' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sophia Zadel, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. Zadel has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Berkley Hart was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with nine rebounds and five steals.
Despite the loss, Brackenridge still got an impressive performance from Alasia Brown, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 40.4% of Brackenridge's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Sky Lopez, who scored five points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Alamo Heights is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. As for Brackenridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-13.
Alamo Heights will head out on the road to square off against Sam Houston at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Brackenridge, they will be playing at home against Highlands at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
