The Gateway Charter Griffins took care of business in their home opener on Saturday (and then some). They breezed by Island Coast at home to the tune of 64-14. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Gateway Charter also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2020.
Gateway Charter was led to victory by Ellie Morin and Alisea Doan. Morin scored 14 points, while Doan scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Emily Salas, who scored 8 points.
Gateway Charter's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Island Coast, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Gateway Charter will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Family Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on November 28th. Island Coast will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cypress Lake at 6:30 p.m. on November 28th. Cypress Lake comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
