The Northeastern Knights scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They put the hurt on Hagerstown with a sharp 78-54 victory. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Northeastern has managed all season.
Tre Vanlandingham was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Dae Lundy, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds.
Despite the loss, Hagerstown still got an impressive performance from Anthony Kelley, who scored 15 points along with six assists. Kelley scored a full 27.8% of Hagerstown's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Schmitz, who scored 13 points.
Even though they lost, Hagerstown were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Northeastern has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Hagerstown, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northeastern's road trip will continue as they head out to face Centerville at 7:30 p.m. on January 6th. Centerville will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for Hagerstown, they will head out on the road to face off against Winchester Community at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
