After a string of three wins, the Northwest Yeshiva Lions's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. The game between them and Muckleshoot Tribal wasn't particularly close, with Northwest Yeshiva falling 87-68. While losing is never fun, Northwest Yeshiva can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 321st, while Muckleshoot Tribal is ranked 160th).
Northwest Yeshiva lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sam Weichbrodt, who scored 23 points. Weichbrodt is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Joe Benoliel was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Muckleshoot Tribal was led to victory by Cedar Korndorfer and Payton Brown. Korndorfer scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and five assists, while Brown scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Korndorfer has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Sutton, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Northwest Yeshiva's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Muckleshoot Tribal, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4.
Northwest Yeshiva will head out on the road to square off against Crescent at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Crescent focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Friday. As for Muckleshoot Tribal, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sound Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
