On Friday Broken Bow take on Ogallala at 7:00 PM. The MaxPreps rankings say the odds are against Broken Bow, but that can only make success all the sweeter.
It was all tied up at the half for Broken Bow and Minden last week, but Broken Bow stepped up in the second half. Broken Bow were able to grind out a solid victory over Minden, winning 27-14. Broken Bow's success was spearheaded by the efforts of senior Grayson Garey, who passed for 186 yards and 2 touchdowns, and junior Patrick Powers, who caught passes for 87 yards and 2 touchdowns. In fact, with 10 tackles Garey was a force on both sides of the ball.
Meanwhile, Ogallala had enough points to win and then some against Valentine, taking their matchup 20-0.
Their wins bumped Ogallala to 2-0 and Broken Bow to 1-1. In their win, Ogallala relied heavily on junior Clayton Murphy, who accumulated 317 passing yards and punched in 1 rushing TD; a key strategy for Broken Bow will lie in finding a way to minimize his impact.
