The Big Sandy Red Devils's road trip will continue as they head out to face Clarksville Christian at 6:00 p.m. on December 28th. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Monday, Big Sandy came up short against Bradford and fell 50-41.
Big Sandy's loss came about despite a quality game from Cole Pierpoint, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Pierpoint's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Green, who scored eight points.
Big Sandy struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Clarksville Christian might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Pleasant View Christian an easy 53-33 victory. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Clarksville Christian has scored all season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Brody Cardwell, who scored nine points along with five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for him. Cyler Middleton was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five assists and three steals.
Big Sandy bumped their record down to 1-4 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Clarksville Christian, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-7.
Thursday's matchup is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Big Sandy have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 27.2 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Clarksville Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 29.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
