Baseball Recap: Monday's Win Is Branford's 12th in Last 13 Outings

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Branford had no problem doing just that on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Hawthorne Hornets a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Buccaneers, who have now won 14 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Kyler Williamson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other pitching news, Keaton Brown looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Enalee Perry, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Jackson Skinner, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Branford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hawthorne only posted an OBP of .143.

Branford has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Hawthorne, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season.

Branford wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 4-2 victory against Union County on the 15th. Hawthorne does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
