Marsing will square off against North Fremont at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
In Friday's Canine Competition, Marsing prevailed. They came out on top against Ririe by a score of 6-2 on Friday.
Brooklyn Roadenbaugh made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Roadenbaugh was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Lily Thoene and Natalie Thoene did most of the damage at the plate: Lily went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Natalie went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Taylor Callison, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, North Fremont entered their tilt with West Side on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Pirates 15-3.
Like Marsing, North Fremont also got a great game from a two-way player: Peyton Lenz. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off ten hits (and only one walk). Lenz has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, London Marsden was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 11 contests. Brynnli Schultz also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
North Fremont was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .543. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Marsing's record now sits at 9-7. As for North Fremont, their record is now 10-7.
