The Arrupe Jesuit Generals will face off against the Denver Academy Mustangs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Denver Academy took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Arrupe Jesuit, who comes in off a win.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Arrupe Jesuit turned things around against Denver West on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the Cowboys.
Gerardo Saucedo made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Saucedo was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Arrupe Jesuit got a big performance out of Osmar Garcia, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Carlos Salais, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Arrupe Jesuit always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .686. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Denver West only posted an OBP of .480.
Meanwhile, Denver Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 17-2 to Lyons.
Denver Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chris Janssen, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.
Denver Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Arrupe Jesuit, their victory bumped their record up to 3-14.
Denver Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Arrupe Jesuit hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .340. It's a different story for Denver Academy, though, as they've only averaged .208. Will they be able to contain Arrupe Jesuit's hitters?
