The Platteview Trojans struggled with threes on Friday (the Papillion-LaVista Monarchs had five more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Platteview took a 55-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Papillion-LaVista.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaxon Adams, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 steals. Another player making a difference was Braden Staudt, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks.
Papillion-LaVista got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Demarcus Mccarty out in front who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brock Rahl, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Platteview's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Papillion-LaVista, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Platteview will take on Beatrice at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Beatrice is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Papillion-LaVista, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bryan at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday.
