The Palisade Bulldogs came into Tuesday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They strolled past Eagle Valley with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 71-53. Winning is a bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 20% better than the opposition, as Palisade's was.
Palisade's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hunter Howard, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Zack Anderson, who scored 11 points.
Despite the loss, Eagle Valley still got an impressive performance from Parker Newbanks, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Newbanks is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Brian Fontana was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Palisade's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-11. As for Eagle Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palisade will take on the Demons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Colorado (Durango is ranked 145th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 134th). As for Eagle Valley, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on February 5th. Battle Mountain is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
