Basketball Recap: Comer Comes Up Short

After flying high against Wellborn on Monday, Comer came back down to earth. The Tigers had to suffer through an 82-34 loss at the hands of the Midfield Patriots. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Patriots: they've now lost seven in a row.

Despite the defeat, Comer saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kariyah Harris posted 17 points and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harris has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Dasia Wilson, who earned seven points and six rebounds.

Leading Midfield to victory were Lauren Stokes and Kamiya Webb. Stokes dropped a double-double with 25 points and ten boards, while Webb dropped a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Webb has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 52 times she's played. Jazmin Johnson was another key player, putting up seven points along with seven steals and five rebounds.

Comer's loss dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Midfield, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-4.

Comer didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 69-41 defeat against Altamont on the 16th. As for Midfield, they have also already played their next matchup, a 53-43 victory against Childersburg on the 16th.
