The Minerva Lions will take on the Alliance Aviators at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Minerva fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Fairless on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 6-5.
Kylie Hannen put in work while hitting and pitching. She tossed 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Hannen was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Rachel Weaver was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Natalie Essick was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Alliance). They blew past United 13-2 on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Aviators considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Lilly White was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Peyton Graham, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Alliance was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2025.
Alliance's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Minerva, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 3-6.
Minerva beat Alliance 8-3 in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Aviators turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
