Basketball Recap: North Moore Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Ryee Welch and Bailea Marley

North Moore lost against Jordan-Matthews back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The North Moore Mustangs might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Jordan-Matthews Jets an easy 49-24 win.

North Moore's loss came despite strong showings from Bailea Marley and Ryee Welch. Marley posted six points, while Welch had four points along with six steals and five boards. That's the most points Marley has posted since back in December of 2023.

Even though they lost, North Moore smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

It was another big night for Kelsey Morris, who dropped a triple-double on ten points, ten boards, and ten steals for Jordan-Matthews. The team also got some help courtesy of Jada Scott, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

North Moore's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Jordan-Matthews, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-5.

North Moore will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Seaforth at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Jordan-Matthews, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 64-18 defeat against Southwestern Randolph on the 18th.
