Baseball Recap: The Webb School Extends Winning Streak to Four

The Webb School entered their tilt with Lake Zurich on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Bears by a score of 6-3.

Mack Hopper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Gunnar Boles was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Drew Baker was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

The Webb School was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The Webb School's win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Lake Zurich, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, The Webb School will square off against Columbia Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Columbia Academy will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something The Webb School surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lake Zurich, they will take on Hersey at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Hersey's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Lake Zurich's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
