Rhodes has gone a perfect 10-0 against John Hay recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Rams will head out on the road to square off against John Hay at 5:00 p.m. Rhodes will come into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
Rhodes barely beat Garrett Morgan the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rams put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 12-2 victory on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Rams have won by exactly ten runs.
Cesar Rios made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Rios was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Jael Matos was excellent, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Luis Vasquez was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, John Hay came up short against Ravenna on Saturday, falling 17-1. The loss continues a trend for John Hay in their meetings with Ravenna: they've now lost five in a row.
John Hay saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tae'Von Walker, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Rhodes' win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0. As for John Hay, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Rhodes has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like John Hay struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Rhodes took their victory against John Hay in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
