The Guy-Perkins Thunderbirds will head out on the road to face off against the Augusta Red Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Guy-Perkins is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Guy-Perkins took a 15-run loss the last time they faced off against Wonderview, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Thunderbirds narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Daredevils 5-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Thunderbirds.

Urijah Fortner made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Guy-Perkins is 2-1 when Fortner allows two or fewer hits, but 1-2 otherwise. Fortner was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Peyton Pierce, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Cardan Foster was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Augusta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Bradford, falling 20-1. On the bright side, the one- run performance marked the Red Devils' highest-scoring game to date.
Augusta's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Guy-Perkins, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-3.
Guy-Perkins skirted past Augusta 12-11 in their previous matchup back in March of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Thunderbirds since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
