Centennial won the last time they met up with Carlsbad, and they shouldn't regret having come to the reunion, either. Centennial were able to grind out a solid win over Carlsbad on Friday, winning 35-27.
After a totally unproductive first quarter, the Centennial offense stepped up its game and put 28 points on the board in the second quarter. Carlsbad wasn't quite able to keep up, scoring 14 to make it 28-14 heading into the break. Although Centennial wound up losing the second-half battle, they still had enough in reserve to win the war. The victory bumped their record up to 6-0. The defeat dropped Carlsbad's record to 2-3-1.
Next week Centennial take on Las Cruces at 7:00 PM. Both of those teams have set a high bar for this contest after stand-out offensive performances in their previous contests. Carlsbad will be playing at home against Gadsden at at 7:00 PM. Both of those teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
