The Gateway Regional Gators had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 15-14 win over Lakewood. The victory was just what Gateway Regional needed coming off of a 48-2 loss in their prior contest.
Jack O'Connell threw for 68 yards and two touchdowns. Chase Rossi was his top target, picking up 41 receiving yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Gavin Lex rushed for 100 yards.
Gateway Regional's win bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Lakewood, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-8.
Gateway Regional will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Woodbury at 5:30 p.m. on November 22nd. As for Lakewood, they will head out on the road to face off against New Egypt at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. New Egypt comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
