The Shelby Golden Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Reidsville Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Shelby comes in on 11 and Reidsville on ten.
With a playoff game on the line, Shelby rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 37-30 victory over the Yellow Jackets. Shelby's victory was all the more impressive since Forest Hills was averaging only 13.71 points allowed on the season.
Shelby relied on the efforts of Lan Farmer, who threw for 255 yards and two touchdowns, and Izay Bridges, who gained 216 total yards and three touchdowns. Bridges was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 64 yards.
Shelby's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. In that department, Justyn Ross was the leader with two sacks.
Meanwhile, Reidsville's offense rose to the challenge against a Bears defense that boasted an average of only 16.36 points allowed. Reidsville took down Bunker Hill 41-26 on Friday. 41 seems to be a good number for Reidsville as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
It was another big night for AL Lee, who threw for 293 yards and three touchdowns. Lee hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for seven straight games. Jariel Cobb also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Shelby has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 11-3 record. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points per game. As for Reidsville, their win bumped their record up to 13-1.
Shelby strolled past Reidsville in their previous matchup back in November of 2021 by a score of 31-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for Shelby since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
