Garber extended their winning streak to four on Monday, bumping their season record up to 14-12 in the process. They blew past the Pinconning Spartans 18-9. The Dukes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Kara Kotenko made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Ava Wagner was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Kokaly, who went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Garber always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pinconning only posted an OBP of .410.
As for Pinconning, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for they, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-13.
On Pinconning's side, Emma McQuarter was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She tossed five innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Furthermore, McQuarter didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Layla Foco made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Elley Shoultes, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Garber will square off against Bridgeport at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pinconning, they will venture away from home to take on Meridian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
