After a string of three wins, the Hiram Hornets's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Dalton by a score of 59-56. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Hiram came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Dalton is ranked 303rd).
Leading Dalton to victory were Drew Snyder and CJ Weaver. Snyder scored 19 points along with nine rebounds, while Weaver dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of RJ Storey, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds.
Hiram's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-8. As for Dalton, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-12 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hiram will face off against Woodland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Woodland is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak. As for Dalton, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Northwest Whitfield at 4:30 p.m. on January 27th.
