The Foundation Academy Lions are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season. they will square off against the Horizon Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Foundation Academy is headed out to face Horizon after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Foundation Academy's pitcher stepped up to hand The First Academy a 4-0 shutout on Thursday.
Not much got past Reagan Schirmer, who gave up just five hits to keep The First Academy off the board. What's more, Schirmer gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kena Terry, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Winters, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Foundation Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as The First Academy only posted a batting average of .160.
Meanwhile, everything went Horizon's way against Davenport on Thursday as Horizon made off with a 15-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hawks.
Addison Lamb made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Lamb was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, Lila Hernandez was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Maryn Nealy was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Foundation Academy came up short against Horizon in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 3-0. Can Foundation Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
