The Ashland Grizzlies will head out on the road to face off against the Scappoose Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Ashland got themselves on the board against Klamath Union, but Klamath Union never followed suit. They blew past the Pelicans, posting a 41-0 win on the road. Winning may never get old, but Ashland sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Gavin White was on fire: he rushed for 155 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. White really tore up the turf during one magnificent 82-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Ortega, who gained 104 total yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Scappoose took their matchup on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 43-6 victory over Astoria. Given Scappoose's advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon football rankings (they are ranked 24th, while Astoria is ranked 115th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Max Nowlin was the offensive standout of the contest as he threw for 254 yards and four touchdowns while completing 84% of his passes. Leland Boswell also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Ashland to 6-3 and Scappoose to 8-1.
