Corbin dropped their record down to 17-10 on Monday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the South Laurel Cardinals by a score of 7-6. The Redhounds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Will Freeman was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits.

On the hitting side, Noah Cima made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs.

As for South Laurel, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games.

On South Laurel's side, Will Alsip and Waylon Hensley were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Alsip didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Hensley tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Alsip has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Alsip got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run, while Hensley went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Vince Sizemore, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits he has posted over his last ten contests.

While Corbin had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
