Berkeley Prep has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Bolles Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Berkeley Prep didn't have too much trouble with Clearwater on the road as they won 28-14.
Berkeley Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joseph Troupe, who rushed for 91 yards and two touchdowns. Troupe hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for three straight games. Nikhil Jefferson made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Berkeley Prep's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. The heavy lifting was done by titus bullard and Gavin Holman who racked up five sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Bolles put the finishing touches on their third blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They breezed by Bishop Kenny at home to the tune of 52-18. The win made it back-to-back wins for Bolles.
Bolles can attribute much of their success to Naeem Burroughs, who picked up 203 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and DJ Moore, who threw for 326 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.6 yards per attempt. Burroughs' longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards. Another player making a difference was Emmett Grzebin, who rushed for 69 yards and two touchdowns.
Berkeley Prep's win was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.2 points per game. As for Bolles, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Berkeley Prep has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 241.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Bolles struggles in that department as they've been averaging 162.8 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
