2A Tri-Peaks recap October 8, 2013
St. Mary's fell to La Junta 38-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Connor Rosenoff ran for 101 yards in the defeat.
Cole Bryant was a passing and rushing force as the Tigers beat St. Mary's. He completed 4 passes for 80 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 89 yards. Bryant's favorite target this week was Casey Weber, who caught 2 passes for 72 yards.
Jordan Farmer was a key player and the best on defense this week as Nic Olney's team fell to La Junta. He recorded 1 fumble.
Thomas Bowman was the most successful running back in 2A Tri-Peaks this week. In 20 carries, he ran for 120 yards as Trinidad bested the Pirates. Teammate Eric Lopez added to the ground attack by rushing for 27 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Alamosa's Marco Garcia and Bailey Garcia have proven to be a lethal combination. Garcia has thrown for 770 yards this season, while Garcia has 26 catches for 560 yards. Florence's Zach Hoxie leads the league in rushing yards with 737.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Manitou Springs takes on second place Lamar. Manitou Springs bested Dolores Huerta Prep last week, while Lamar fell to the Huskies.
Florence led 2A Tri-Peaks in scoring this week after putting up 50 points on the Savages.
