The East Duplin Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 69-47 walloping at the hands of James Kenan. While losing is never fun, East Duplin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 604th, while James Kenan is ranked 249th).
East Duplin's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Calvin Harper, who scored 14 points along with two steals, and Jeremiah Judge who scored 11 points.
East Duplin has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season. As for James Kenan, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Duplin will take on Kinston at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for James Kenan, they will head out on the road to square off against Clinton at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Clinton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
