The Southview Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their 13th straight loss. They fell 34-26 to Bowling Green. Southview was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Bowling Green apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Southview's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mikayla Dorn, who scored seven points along with five rebounds, and Morgan Rigg who scored nine points along with six rebounds. Rigg continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last five games she's played.
Southview's defeat was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-16. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.5 points per game. As for Bowling Green, their victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southview will take on Genoa Area at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Genoa Area presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Southview in Ohio (Genoa Area is ranked 333rd, while Southview is ranked 673rd). As for Bowling Green, they will head out on the road to challenge Springfield at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
