Baseball Recap: Mercer County Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

While Mercer County didn't have the best season last year (they finished 16-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against the Hardin Valley Academy Hawks by a score of 9-6 on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Titans sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Ayden Stephens was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Brady Payton, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Mercer County's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Hardin Valley Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-4-1.

Looking ahead, Mercer County will venture away from home to square off against Bearden at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Hardin Valley Academy, they will host Red Bank at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
