Aaron Miller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Lakes is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 0-7 otherwise. Miller was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Carlos Gabriel Serrano was excellent, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also got a hit, marking his first of the season. James Kennedy was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Lakes always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Peninsula suffered their closest loss since May 1, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of North Thurston by a score of 4-2.
Peninsula saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Sleeter, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Peninsula's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3-1. As for Lakes, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-8.
Lakes suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Peninsula when the teams last played back in May of 2016. Can the Lancers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
