The Spearfish Spartans fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the More Cavaliers on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cavaliers by a score of 55-52. Spearfish has not had much luck with More recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Spearfish's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dylon Doren, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Doren has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Seth Hamilton, who scored 15 points.
Spearfish now has a losing record at 4-5. As for More, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home.
Spearfish will take on Lead-Deadwood at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for More, they will head out on the road to face off against Rapid City Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Rapid City Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
