The Smithfield Packers can finally bid farewell to their nine-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They came out on top against York by a score of 44-37. Smithfield's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Despite the defeat, York saw an underclassman step up: Kenlee Washington scored 19 points along with five steals. It was the first time this season that Washington scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Sarah Witt, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Smithfield's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-16. As for York, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-17.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Smithfield will take on Grafton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for York, they will head out on the road to challenge Jamestown at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
