Softball Recap: Mendon Extends Winning Streak to Four

Mendon never let their opponents score on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over the Marcellus Wildcats. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 20 matches by six runs or more this season.

Jadyn Samson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Gracie Schultz was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. She has been hot, having also posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Cienna Nightingale, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Mendon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marcellus only posted an OBP of .250.

The win (which was Mendon's fourth in a row) raised their record to 24-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Marcellus, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-16.

Mendon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Marcellus, they will challenge Gobles at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 12.9 runs per game this season.
