Softball Game Preview: Rouse Raiders vs. Tivy Antlers

The Rouse Raiders are taking a road trip to face off against the Tivy Antlers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rouse is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

Tivy will be up against a hot Rouse team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Raiders' pitcher stepped up to hand Lockhart a 4-0 shutout on Tuesday.

Blakely Barber made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 18 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ciana Arguijo, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Madilynn George, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Rouse was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Tivy hadn't done well against Boerne-Champion recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Antlers put the hurt on the Chargers with a sharp 8-2 win. The Antlers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

Tivy now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Rouse, their record is now 16-9-2.

Rouse couldn't quite get it done against Tivy when the teams last played back in February of 2021 as they fell 10-6. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
