The Poquoson Islanders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. The game between Poquoson and York wasn't particularly close, with Poquoson falling 56-38. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Poquoson in their matchups with York: they've now lost six in a row.
Poquoson's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Khaleo Smith, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Dayne Galacgac, who scored nine points.
Poquoson dropped their record down to 1-12 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road. As for York, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poquoson will take on Smithfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Smithfield presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Poquoson in Virginia (Smithfield is ranked 145th, while Poquoson is ranked 344th). As for York, they will head out on the road to take on Lafayette at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
